Soul Purification
Purification of the soul : tazkiyatun nafs
“Soul is not only the heart, but the whole person itself” [including the heart, akhlaq.. etc]
Ibrahim’s Dua’a:
“Raise from amongst them a messenger.. ”
>Who will recites the verses of Allah;
>And teach them the book of wisom;
>And purify them
Allah’s answer: [QS. 2:151]
كَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيڪُمۡ رَسُولاً۬ مِّنڪُمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ءَايَـٰتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيڪُمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُڪُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحِڪۡمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُم مَّا لَمۡ تَكُونُواْ تَعۡلَمُونَ (١٥١)
“Just as We have sent among you a messenger from yourselves reciting to you Our verses and purifying you and teaching you the Book and wisdom and teaching you that which you did not know.” [2:151][Tafsir: Sahih International]
“(Nikmat berkiblatkan Kaabah yang Kami berikan kepada kamu itu), samalah seperti (nikmat) Kami mengutuskan kepada kamu seorang Rasul dari kalangan kamu (iaitu Muhammad), yang membacakan ayat-ayat Kami kepada kamu, dan membersihkan kamu (dari amalan syirik dan maksiat), dan yang mengajarkan kamu kandungan Kitab (Al-Quran) serta Hikmat kebijaksanaan, dan mengajarkan kamu apa yang belum kamu ketahui.” [2:151] [Tafsir: Basmeih]
‘’akhlaq and adab, if its not there within a person, the knowledge will lead someone to go astray”
“take the characteristic of your sheikh before His knowledge”
*highlighted that akhlaq comes first before knowledge
وَنَفۡسٍ۬ وَمَا سَوَّٮٰهَا (٧) فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَٮٰهَا (٨) قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن زَكَّٮٰهَا (٩) وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَن دَسَّٮٰهَا (١٠)
“By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; (7) And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;― (8) Truly he succeeds that purifies it, (9) And he fails that corrupts it! (10)”

“Demi diri manusia dan Yang menyempurnakan kejadiannya (dengan kelengkapan yang sesuai dengan keadaannya); (7) Serta mengilhamkannya (untuk mengenal) jalan yang membawanya kepada kejahatan, dan yang membawanya kepada bertakwa; (8) Sesungguhnya berjayalah orang yang menjadikan dirinya yang sedia bersih bertambah-tambah bersih (dengan iman dan amal kebajikan), (9) Dan sesungguhnya hampalah orang yang menjadikan dirinya yang sedia bersih itu susut dan terbenam kebersihannya (dengan sebab kekotoran maksiat). Ramadhan is a blessing for the soul purification =)
During Ramadhan: Increase Ibadah[worship]
By the meaning of Ibadaah :
> Faith[iman/in the mean of soul]
> Morality [keeping good relation, behavior, etc.]
> Acts of worship [solah, Quran recitation, zikr, etc]
Hadeeths showing how the prophet Muhammad[pbuh] links faith and good akhlaq:
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)”
“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt (or insult) his neighbor; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should entertain his guest generously.” [Bukhari Vol 8 Book 76 No 482]
